Presented by Playworks, the leading national nonprofit on leveraging play for youth outcomes, this active and game-intensive workshop will demonstrate play-based strategies, group management techniques and games for educators who work with 2-5-year-old children in gross motor or recess settings.
This workshop will include a ‘mock recess’ and debrief designed to demonstrate Playworks' key frameworks for safety, engagement and empowerment. Playworks will also provide a brief overview of how to effectively facilitate games.

TEAM RESOURCES
Help Keep ELI Safe from Cyber Attacks
Our annual Cyber Security training began on Wednesday, Jan. 11. Each team member must complete the required training to help ensure we remain alert and able to protect ourselves from the latest phishing and scamming tactics. You received an email from KnowBe4(do-not-reply@training.knowbe4.com)asking you to sign in and complete your training by the date noted in the email. There are two training videos, so make sure to complete both. If you did not receive the email or have trouble finding it, please contact Gadellnet.
Add Mindful Movement to Your Week
All Early Learning Indiana team members are invited to a free Tai Chi Slow Flow class. Enjoy the flow of energy or "Qi" to relieve stress, clear your mind, strengthen your body and add mindful movement to your week. Tai Chi Slow Flow with Christine meets each Saturday from 9-10 a.m. on Zoom. The class is ongoing, so you can begin at any time. Christine's classes are a fun exploration of these eastern arts and are designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. Christine is generously offering these classes to Early Learning Indiana team members at no charge so you can experience the many rewarding benefits of Tai Chi in the comfort of your own home and at no cost to you! Learn more about Christine here.
How to Register: Contact Christine here and let her know you are with Early Learning Indiana and want to join the Saturday morning Flow class. She will send you the Zoom link to get you started. You will continue to receive the Zoom link each month until you choose to unsubscribe.
Day Early Learning Safety Spotlight
During January, our Safety Spotlight topic is food safety. When understanding food safety with children, it’s important to know the difference between choking and gagging. Gagging can be loud with coughing. A child may tear up or their face may become red. This is a natural reflex, and it’s best that you let them independently work through it. Choking can be quiet or silent. A child’s lips and skin may become slightly blue. When a child is choking, you should take immediate action.
ELI ACROSS THE STATE
Family Resource Navigator at Indiana findhelp Summit
Findhelp, the technology that powers Family Resource Navigator, hosted a two-day event for Indiana organizations that use the social care platform to connect families to resources related to health, basic needs, job training and education. The event was an opportunity to celebrate our impact across the state, network with other community organizations and healthcare providers, and set goals for 2023.
Kelsey Webb, senior manager of network initiatives, participated as a panelist in a session focused on how the Family Resource Navigator was integrated into the CCRR Network’s workflow, in addition to child care referrals they already provide to families. During the session she discussed the training
structure to ensure buy-in from the network, workflow adoption and challenges, lessons learned as the Family Resource Navigator refinement continues, and finally, to celebrate that together the CCRR Network and Brighter Futures Indiana Solution Center have helped over 300 families connect to additional resources.
