Think Babies

One of our Day Early Learning and Early Head Start families recently attended ZERO TO THREE's national Strolling Thunder event. Alongside babies and families representing all 50 states, they gathered in the District of Columbia to engage with Members of Congress. Their aim was to advocate for policies that

prioritize early childhood development and remind our policymakers to "Think Babies." This event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of investing in our youngest constituents and ensuring a bright future for every child.

Lunch & Learn

In our latest Lunch & Learn, we heard more about the importance of professional development for adults who work with young children and about a few opportunities for ECE professionals to support their ongoing learning, including scholarships, conferences and new career pathways brought to life by ELI and our partners. Want to do more for your own professional development?

  1. Learn more about scholarships and offerings for women from the Philanthropic Education Organization (PEO) or by contacting Helen Taylor or Judy Moeller.
  2. Share ideas for conferences or learning opportunities with Marienid.
  3. Talk with your supervisor about your professional development and opportunities that interest you.

Let's Celebrate

CASY Provider Fair

Early Learning Indiana recently participated in a Child Care Provider Fair hosted by Chances and Services for Youth in Wayne County. Our team encouraged early care and education programs to claim their profiles on the Early Learning Marketplace and demonstrated how easy it is to improve your marketing strategy with the free Brighter Futures Indiana Marketing Best Practices Guide.

TRENDING ACROSS OUR DAY EARLY LEARNING CENTERS

Replacing The Birthday Suits

For a time, there was a plight of unclothed baby dolls across our Day Early Learning classrooms. When a call to action for more doll clothes was issued, the Day Nursery Auxiliary responded in a big way. Auxiliary members Mona Stephens (pictured at left) and Linda Theobald dusted off their sewing machines and got to work. Over this past winter, Mona and Linda created 88 expertly crafted doll outfits. Not only are the outfits lovely, they also help our young children work on their fine motor skills when dressing and undressing the dolls.

Be sure to learn more about the Day Nursery Auxiliary and its longstanding friendship with Early Learning Indiana.

Welcoming New School Leaders

We are so excited to be adding some outstanding new leadership to our DEL team! On July 10, we were able to welcome Eryca Atkins as our new Manual School Leader as well as Cassondra Revilla as our new IU Health Day Early Learning School Leader.

Eryca and Cassondra's strong backgrounds in directing and teaching, nurturing young learners and cultivating lifetime learning are qualities we believe will set them up to be successful school leaders. We can't wait to see all the good work they're able to do here!

Say "Cheese"

This past week our school-aged students were able to enjoy the unique opportunity of playing chefs for the day at Arni's Restaurant! They learned all about prepping the dough, and they also made their own pizzas to eat afterwards.

This field trip was a hit amongst the students, and they were able to learn so much about pizza-making.
