Building Resilience with Calm
You don’t have to go through challenging times alone nor do you have to constantly feel overwhelmed. That’s why this month we want to focus on helping deepen your daily self-care practices to help you move through the difficult emotions that may arise. We’ve partnered with Calm to share a collection of resources within their app that’ll get you started:
When you feel helpless and uncertain about what’s up ahead, try this Daily Jay session for a guided meditation and find ways to go beyond seeking certainty in life.
Challenges are part of life but you have it within you to overcome them. Take a moment for this guided meditation practice to create an inner gentle container to hold your emotions.
Join one of the Calm App Webinars to learn how to get the most out of your Calm experience and bolster your overall well-being.
Scholarship Opportunity for Continuing Education
P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women. They support women's education through scholarships, grants, awards and loans and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations. Through the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education, eligible female applicants may apply for a one-time, need-based grant of up to $3,000 for use in completing a degree or certification necessary for improving or gaining skills leading to employment. P.E.O.’s local chapter encourages Day Early Learning educators and staff to apply if eligible. For additional questions about this opportunity, you may contact Ciara Dunham, ELI’s Director of Professional Development.
Our Safety Spotlight this month is DEL Family Hub. Children can only be picked up by the individuals listed on the DEL Family Hub app. Any changes to authorized pick-up persons must be submitted in writing by the parent or guardian and communicated directly to the classroom by School Leaders or Operations Managers. Any questions regarding these policies are highly encouraged.

Engaging Closing the Gap Grantees
Jonathan Dilley, chief of staff attended Hubbard Hill Early Learning Center's "Leave your mark event" last Friday. Hubbard Hill ELC is a Closing the Gap grantee and they received a $100,000 grant for their new center. Event guests left a message on the facility's beams. ELI's message read, "To joy and learning at every age and stage of life".
We also hosted Kelly Nissan, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana, in our offices. They received a $90,000 Closing the Gap grant to expand care in Lake County. She toured Park 100 where our teams shared expertise on child care challenges and solutions.
Sparking a
New Generation
ELI has been participating in JobSpark since 2021 to showcase the early education industry as a workforce pathway to 8th graders. This year, Early Learning Indiana was invited to co-chair the Government, Law and Public Service Cluster. Marienid Gonzalez, community outreach and engagement coordinator, has been selected to fill this role.
TRENDING ACROSS OUR DAY EARLY LEARNING CENTERS
Celebrating Black History
At Day Early Learning, we believe each child must be understood within the context of their individual family, community and experiences. We embrace diversity and support learning in a rich environment that nurtures individual talents and addresses the unique backgrounds of each child we educate. In honor of Black History Month, our centers are highlighting contributions by African Americans. From the inventor of ice cream scoop to architects, fashion designers and stylists to guest readers - each classroom and center is celebrating in their very own way. Take a look at what everyone's been up to.
Click the button below to send us photos so we can highlight what is happening in your center. Prior to sending photos, confirm photo releases for children shown.
