ELI ACROSS THE STATE

Trip to Hendricks County

Hendricks County knows how vital it is to remain informed of trends and ever-changing information surrounding the child care world. Because of their desire to stay updated, we had the opportunity to head over and present about "The Business Case for Early Childhood Education and Child Care in Hendricks County," at the start of this month. Heather Pease presented, alongside Mollie Smith from Child Care Answers, on the state of early learning in Indiana and Hendricks County. The two shared data and trends around child care access, quality and affordability, economic impacts, role of government and employers as well as opportunities both for local employers and the community.

Growing Up Great With PNC

On August 5 we kicked off our PNC Grow Up Great series at Park 100 with an incredible presentation from Dr. Lori Desautels about 'Growing the Brain.' Attendees gained knowledge and were invited to decorate their own one-of-a-kind pair of sneakers as a networking and appreciation activity.

This program also provides participants with a way to earn professional development hours toward Paths to QUALITY and a Child Development Associate credential. These components are offered all while enjoying provided activities and having some fun!

With all that being said, thank you to everyone who helped out as well as attended our first event of the series! We are so excited for the remaining four parts, and we can't wait to present you with future opportunities to attend our Grow Up Great presentations.

TRENDING ACROSS OUR DAY EARLY LEARNING CENTERS

Sweet Summertime

Our Ice Cream Social at Christel House South was a hit! Our new school leader Eryca Atkins was able to meet several Christel House families as well as current DEL at Manual families at a back-to-school event. Rachel Whaley, from our Talent Experience team, joined Eryca and spoke with potential new team members for our centers.

Buckle Up!

Car seats are essential tools in getting your little ones everywhere they need to go. While they are such commonly used tools, they are not always properly utilized or understood to the fullest extent.

With these thoughts in mind, we were able to kick off our first Car Seat Clinic at Day Early Learning at Eastern Star Church earlier this month. This clinic focused on car seat best practices and worked to build parents’ confidence when it comes to strapping their children in before traveling.

    Learning to be Flexible

It’s yoga time! From downward facing dog to happy baby and sun salutation, yoga is back at Day Early Learning. Thanks to the generosity of many donors who supported our end-of-year campaign, this week kicked off an 8-week yoga series for our preschool and pre-K children at our Indy-based DEL centers. Not only is yoga a fun way to break up the day, but the health benefits of yoga on a child are many, including:

    • Boosting self-esteem
    • Helping with self-control and anxiety
    • Improving emotional regulation
    • Increasing body awareness and mindfulness
    • Reducing impulsivity and teaching inner discipline
