The Family Resource Navigator is a one-stop shop for all the resources families need to thrive, from social, educational and health resources to career training and economic support. One of the best ways families can help their children grow is by providing healthy food to fuel their growing brains and bodies. So this month, Family Resource Navigator is providing easy, healthy, WIC-approved recipes and healthy eating tips through the new āFood for Thoughtā campaign.
Over the course of three emails, weāll share easy ways for you to help share this information with children and families, improving their access to healthy food to fuel growing brains. The first email was about creating a healthy food study in your classroom. Todayās email is about creating a family engagement event.
Family Engagement Ideas and Resources
This week, consider combining the food study with a parent or family engagement event. Expanding on our example from last week about exploring the different areas of MyPlate, invite families to attend your special meal at the end of the week. During this meal, make sure families understand what was discussed during the study and how they can continue learning at home. Send them home with handouts like this to help them continue to make healthy choices for their family at every meal.
Thank you for sharing these important resources with the families in your program. Visit the Food for Thought web page for more information.
